Context
Appajipeta is a small village in Pamidi mandal, Anantapur district, Andhra Pradesh. The 2011 census counted 686 people in 172 houses. Most of the houses have asbestos roofs, according to the IANS wire service. Others are covered with sheets and tiles. Around the last days of September 2026, those roofs began to ring out at night. By 3 and 4 October, every report agreed. It had been going on for about a week.
