July 12, 1993. Evening in Cërrik, a small town in central Albania between the Shkumbin and Devoll rivers. Around 8 p.m., people looked up and saw something luminous in the sky. A lit flying object. It made frequent and sudden movements. It did not leave. For two hours the town was gripped by panic and curiosity. Dozens watched. Police were called to calm the crowd. Then, around 10 p.m., the object disappeared. The next day the newspaper Koha Jonë put a question in its headline. UFO in Cërrik? More than thirty years later, nobody has answered it.

Context

In the summer of 1993, Albania had only recently left communist rule. Cërrik is a town in Elbasan district, in the centre of the country. It sits between the Shkumbin and Devoll rivers.
