Sighting record / 1973
1973. An Alitalia airliner leaves Rome, bound for Naples. Somewhere along the way, the crew reports a round object in the sky. Two Italian Air Force planes take off from Ciampino. Their crews confirm the sighting. That is nearly all that survives. A single sentence by researcher Stefano Innocenti, retold again and again. In the retellings the object turns grey, the sky becomes the sky over Latina, and the military planes become fighters. There is no date, no name, no official explanation. Just a round object over Lazio, seen by trained eyes in three aircraft, and never accounted for.
