Goiás, Brazil. A farm about 25 km from Alexânia. From 1967 its owner, Wilson Plácido de Gusmão, said a small light kept coming to the house. Then came a disc. Then a crew. Pale, blond, human-looking beings in tight dark-grey suits. By March 1969 the story was in the Correio Braziliense, and crowds were driving out from Brasília, Anápolis and Goiânia. One of the watchers was no ordinary witness. General Alfredo Moacyr de Mendonça Uchôa, an army engineer and professor of mechanics, kept weekly night watches at the farm for years. He came away convinced that an intelligence was directing it all.

The beings

Human-looking beings 1.60 to 1.75 m tall, with porcelain-pale skin and short blond hair pressed to the head, in tight dark-grey suits, boots with metallic flaps and belts of key-like controls. They stared, smiled and made light with belt devices, speaking only by telepathy. Their craft was a disc about 5 m across with a bluish glow.

Context

The Fazenda Vale do Rio do Ouro lies in the municipality of Alexânia, Goiás. Sources place it between 90 and 120 km from Brasília. Its owner was Wilson Plácido de Gusmão. Revista UFO dates the story to 15 June 1967, and to a dream. Wilson saw a small glowing disc circling inside his bedroom. It hovered about a metre above his head and shone a beam of light on his face. Other accounts begin in September 1967, when a small light started approaching the house. It would stop about 200 metres away, stay two or three minutes, then move off.
