This Federal Bureau of Investigation file section (62-HQ-83894, Section 10) holds UFO-related correspondence from 1966 to 1977. In a 1966 letter, Florence C. Dow of Goffstown, New Hampshire asked whether subscribing to the Amalgamated Flying Saucer Clubs of America journal might link her to communists. J. Edgar Hoover replied that the Bureau does not evaluate organizations, and a copy of the journal is enclosed. Other items include a 1977 Air Force fact sheet on the end of Project Blue Book and a White House inquiry answered by the FBI, which said it had no jurisdiction over UFO sightings.

From the source:Release of 2026-05-08 Incident: N/A, N/A. The FBI's 62-HQ-83894 case file includes investigative records, eyewitness testimonies, and public reports concerning Unidentified Flying Objects and flying discs documented between June 1947 and July 1968. The records include high-profile incident accounts, photographic evidence from sites like Oak Ridge, TN, and technical proposals regarding potential propulsion systems. Additional topics include convention programs, researcher accounts, and extensive media coverage from the period. This file is partially posted on FBI vault with more redactions and some pages missing. Included here is the complete case file with several newly declassified pages and only minor redactions.

World Flying Saucer 2-6-66 Believers Convene New York Times Service LOS ANGELF;S, Calif. The "urgent problem" of improving communications with the thousands of visitors from outer space who sup posedly are circling the earth was afforded solemn delib eration here this weekend at a special convention of fly ing saucer buffs. Among the nearly 300 dele gates was a self-professed "interplanetary tr ave I er " 'lamed Standing Horse, an Englishwoman who regularly issues mimeographed reports on her conversations w i th space travelers, a man who offered to book "gro up sightings" of flying saucers and a presidential candidate campaigning on the flying saucer ticket. THE SPACE buffs, who assembled in a cavernous es- .,.Jablishment called the Blar ney Castle, weren't much im pressed with Thursday's So viet moon landing, but they were awed and confused by what they reported to be a sharp increase in flying saucers. One delegate, Marianne Francis, warned that the sightings could mark the be ginning of some "ominous changes" for the earth's pop ulation. But the convention c h a i r m a n, Dr. F r a n k Stranges, said the "interplan etary visitors" would turn out to be "angelic creatures whose mission is to h e 1 p mankind." The delegates were gen erally well groomed, articu late men and women w h o could have blended into any PTA meeting. Many were heads of organizations whose members spotted and photo graphed "unidentified flying objects" and claimed to main tain telepathic communica tion with space travelers. NEARLY ALL agreed tl)at What they called the "flying saucer movement" was un- dergoing sharp expans ion. Two delegates announced they were negotiating to pur- · · · h I chase ~ad10 _stations . to e P transmit their theories. ~ev- eral flying saucer magazines and hundreds of books were on sale at the convention. "These people are contac tee-oriented," explained Gab riel Green, a serious young man who served as president of the Amalgamated Flying ·saucer Clubs of America. Flying Object Sighted in Illinois NORMAL, m .-ruPD-Sev erjli persons living on the same block here said they saw an unidentified flying object last night. The object had four blink Ing lights, red, white, blue and green, proceeded north easterly, hovered over a grove of trees, then returned southwesterly. The object was seen first ,by the Merle Simpson family, then others. They said it was flat and small. M1~1 NEAPOLIS TRIBUNE j "They accept spacecraft as a fact of life. Their interest is in contacting spacemen di rectly or through telepathy." Green, who regularly runs for president as a "space age candidate," says he cannot practice telepathy but insists he has met spacemen on at least six occasions. The last of his visitors, he said, was four feet tall and came from the Alpha Centauri s o 1 a r system. A muscular, even-featured young man named Wesley Bateman said he -never had met spacemen but that he was in "constant communica• tion with them through tele pathy" a_nd offered a , pro gram of mstruct10n to _other delegates who sought surular contacts. His blonde wife, Jonell, attired in black Leo tards, was kept busy signing up "students." "There is no mystery as to whether the space men are wal ..hing us - some have al rea_iy infiltrated our society," sai"' Bateman. "The mystery is why so many are coming. \11_!,_a.1'§ gQi!JK.JQ.j\~?~'.._ Flying Saucers, _ 2 3 _66 !To the Editor, S.C.M . Posr,-- Sir,-Citizens beware! ThiS is not a drill!
