AFOIN-X/Lt Col Bloomer/met/71092/18 Jan 18 January 1955 Howard Sockel 3321 W. Grenshaw Street Chicago 24, Illinois Dear Howard: Your recent letter addressed to the Secretary of the Air Force has been referred to this office for reply. As you are undoubtedly aware, the Air Force has had a major active program in the field of unidentified flying objects for the past several years. Far from withholding information from the public on this particular program, it is rather our policy to distribute to the press and radio and other news media periodic revisions of progress made. For your convenience, I am attaching a copy of "U. S. Air Force Summary of Events and Information Concerning the Unidentified Flying Object Program," which compiles all of the latest facts established by the Air Force in its program in this area. Thank you for your interest in the Air Force. Sincerely, SIGNED 1 Incl "USAF Summary" JOSEPH A.
