This declassified U.S. Air Force file contains the final report of Project Twinkle, dated 27 November 1951 and written by Louis Elterman of the Geophysics Research Division, together with related correspondence. The project was set up to investigate the green fireballs and other light phenomena around Holloman AFB and Vaughn, New Mexico, and it was run with Askania cameras. The report calls its findings essentially negative and recommends no further funding. In March 1952 the Directorate of Intelligence declined to declassify it.

1. Inclosed is a copy of the Final Report on Project Twinkle, forwarded at your request.

2. As there is interest in this matter outside of the Department of Defense, we have recommended to Hq., ABDC; that consideration be given to its declassification, particularly in view of the fact that nothing of a security nature has been discovered.
