This August 1949 technical report from the US Air Force Air Materiel Command presents Project Grudge's investigation of unidentified flying objects through January 1949. Drawing on consultants including Dr. J. A. Hynek, Rand Corporation, the Air Weather Service and Dr. P. M. Fitts, it explains most of 244 incidents as balloons, aircraft, astronomical phenomena, hoaxes or psychological errors. It concludes the objects pose no direct threat to national security and recommends reducing the investigation in scope.
## UNCLASSIFIED The information given here is insufficient to determine any possible astronomical or11n of the object observed. Insolant : 20 -- Xenia, Ohio -- 20 Octacar 1947 as in incident 119, while it is impossible to rule out the meteoric explanation (e.g., straight source, fast speed), the lack of information about trail, length of time in eight, manner of disappearance, and distance from observer, and any attempt at a definite interpretation rather futile. Again, in short, it is not impossible that the object some was a daylight, slow-moving bolide, but it is highly improbable. Judging from the limited information offered.
