Unidentified Flying Objects: Project "Grudge" (Technical Report No. 102-AC 49/15-100)

US Air Force, Air Materiel Command · 1949-08 · 413 pages · text by OCR

This August 1949 technical report from the US Air Force Air Materiel Command presents Project Grudge's investigation of unidentified flying objects through January 1949. Drawing on consultants including Dr. J. A. Hynek, Rand Corporation, the Air Weather Service and Dr. P. M. Fitts, it explains most of 244 incidents as balloons, aircraft, astronomical phenomena, hoaxes or psychological errors. It concludes the objects pose no direct threat to national security and recommends reducing the investigation in scope.

The list of this incident is that a flack of light was seen and a distressing sound of explosive heard at about five on a railway line. Clearly this destruction occurred only in any large explosion, such as that of an aviation duty or factory, however, it is true that when a volley exploded a纵连纵闪 of lights it soon, and the numerous sounds are magnitudes heard for many seconds. Since the air was overcast at the time of this in-affect, and a light rain was falling, the earlier part of the trail of the firewall (if that is what it was, of course, not visible) only the flask from the final explosion, which will have appeared essentially stationary, was seen.

In the absence of positive evidence of any other type of explosion occurring in the vicinity at the time, it is the opinion of this investigator that a police explosion was observed.
