Unidentified Flying Objects: Project "Grudge" (Technical Report No. 102-AC 49/15-100)

US Air Force, Air Materiel Command · 1949-08 · 413 pages · text by OCR

This August 1949 technical report from the US Air Force Air Materiel Command presents Project Grudge's investigation of unidentified flying objects through January 1949. Drawing on consultants including Dr. J. A. Hynek, Rand Corporation, the Air Weather Service and Dr. P. M. Fitts, it explains most of 244 incidents as balloons, aircraft, astronomical phenomena, hoaxes or psychological errors. It concludes the objects pose no direct threat to national security and recommends reducing the investigation in scope.

## UNCLASSIFIED

Incident v114, a -- Simoleo, Georgia -- 25 July 1845

The object reported in incident 2103 and 1014 (which presumably refer to the same thing) can be easily or leaked as harmless, seen a very bright asteroid. The majority of observers agree that the object did not encounter, was on a steady course, and lost altitude slowly.

Avereous other reports (included with I. (fent alco), from the vitality of Augusta, which are widely divergent as to time, direction of motion, and color of the object, all appear to refer to a bright error. It may so just these observed reports all describe the object of I. (fent alco), c. It could be, of course, that the state of Virginia was treated to several fireballs in an event, but it seems more likely that we have an example of serious disjunction in the description of the object.
