This August 1949 technical report from the US Air Force Air Materiel Command presents Project Grudge's investigation of unidentified flying objects through January 1949. Drawing on consultants including Dr. J. A. Hynek, Rand Corporation, the Air Weather Service and Dr. P. M. Fitts, it explains most of 244 incidents as balloons, aircraft, astronomical phenomena, hoaxes or psychological errors. It concludes the objects pose no direct threat to national security and recommends reducing the investigation in scope.
## UNCLASSIFIED Incident v1/2 -- Nana1, Minnesota -- 11 August 1948 No astronomical explanation is possible for this result. A meteorite would not have deserved so gently, nor would it have risen again. It seems Iorgulule that this could have been an actual physical occurrence, but if it was, it is usually unfortunate that no nature observers were at hand. If the object did land just a few feet away, one would think that even children would have given a very detailed description. -a it known whether the children have normal vision? To one with myopic vision, even a barbary or hazel jiloin; to a leading albatross as a strange object.
