Unidentified Flying Objects: Project "Grudge" (Technical Report No. 102-AC 49/15-100)

US Air Force, Air Materiel Command · 1949-08 · 413 pages · text by OCR

This August 1949 technical report from the US Air Force Air Materiel Command presents Project Grudge's investigation of unidentified flying objects through January 1949. Drawing on consultants including Dr. J. A. Hynek, Rand Corporation, the Air Weather Service and Dr. P. M. Fitts, it explains most of 244 incidents as balloons, aircraft, astronomical phenomena, hoaxes or psychological errors. It concludes the objects pose no direct threat to national security and recommends reducing the investigation in scope.

Incident 100 - Brevonsburg, Pennsylvania - 4 July 1949

There is no astronomical explanation for this incident.

The date of occurrence, July 4, suggests that the object even might have seen a part of its celebration -- for instance, a lighted balloon, or even a "curly hair" type of balloon.

Or there may be a more simpler explanation for the incident: the observer was very close to the Allegheny County airport. Loss the airport have record of either pilot balloon or small aircraft in the air at the time of the alighting? Since when the objection seemed to stop it also arranged direction, the stoppage may have been merely the result of perspective.

This incident does not appear to have any relation to incident ylül.
