Unidentified Flying Objects: Project "Grudge" (Technical Report No. 102-AC 49/15-100)

US Air Force, Air Materiel Command · 1949-08 · 413 pages · text by OCR

This August 1949 technical report from the US Air Force Air Materiel Command presents Project Grudge's investigation of unidentified flying objects through January 1949. Drawing on consultants including Dr. J. A. Hynek, Rand Corporation, the Air Weather Service and Dr. P. M. Fitts, it explains most of 244 incidents as balloons, aircraft, astronomical phenomena, hoaxes or psychological errors. It concludes the objects pose no direct threat to national security and recommends reducing the investigation in scope.

conservial airlines operating stations using daylight savings the operate on ITT, thus there would be no elecropany in the time.

The conclusion seems to be taken. If the differences in time is real, the object has an exact form of aircraft travelling at 300 km/h. If there is no time difference, the object must have been an extraordinary meteor. The observation from two equally separated points is the focal point of the investigation — if one assumes that the same object was observed in the two cases, that there were two separate objects can port likely be ruled out by the sheer improbability of more than one such extraordinary object being seen on the same night, travelling over the same course, exactly one hour apart.
