This August 1949 technical report from the US Air Force Air Materiel Command presents Project Grudge's investigation of unidentified flying objects through January 1949. Drawing on consultants including Dr. J. A. Hynek, Rand Corporation, the Air Weather Service and Dr. P. M. Fitts, it explains most of 244 incidents as balloons, aircraft, astronomical phenomena, hoaxes or psychological errors. It concludes the objects pose no direct threat to national security and recommends reducing the investigation in scope.
Incident gds = beirouth death, velavare = september 1941 victor 1941 2 June 1947 ...is insistent certains equal; astronomical. It is entirely possible that two objects observed on three separate dates were "Bubble worms," received distiles, as fired from Fort Clinton by the applied Anglo-Spanish Laboratory of Johns Hopkins University. Since the hour of observation of the various sightings (and the exact day of the first two) is not given in material submitted to this investigator, positive identification cannot be made; but if those facts are known, inquiry at the above-mentioned laboratory (address: 201 South Georgia Avenue, Silver Spring, Maryland) might bring forth definite identification.
