Project Blue Book Socorro file

Internet Archive · 168 pages · text by OCR

This Project Blue Book file on the Socorro, New Mexico sighting, held by the Internet Archive, collects Air Force records and 1964 press clippings. It covers policeman Lonnie Zamora's April 24, 1964 report of an egg-shaped object with four legs, the scorched brush and ground depressions, and Dr. J. Allen Hynek's investigation. An Air Force summary says soil and brush analysis found no radiation or propellant and the case stayed open. Later New Mexico reports were judged known objects or hoaxes.

As far as unidentified fly objects (UFS's) go, said the Air Force UFO investigator, J. Allen Hynek of Northwest University, "This is one of classic cases." He said he was more puzzled than ever after investigation.

The experience has had an effect on the officer. He now tries to keep someone with him while on duty. He had just let his partner of their patrol car for dinner a year ago today when he gave up a speeding car. The heard...what sounded like the explosions and gave up the chance to investigate, finding what thought was an overturned car on a wash on a hill.

Two figures in white overa were outside the vehicle, mora said.

"Then a big noise started al it (the UPO) came up and he red there. I could hear a low bing, bing, bing." I didn't know whether to short, start running or call back for help. I crouched behind my car.
