Unidentified Flying Objects Reports

Defense Intelligence Agency · 140 pages · text by OCR

This Defense Intelligence Agency release gathers Army and Air Force intelligence reports on unidentified flying objects from several countries. It contains translated Finnish Border Guard reports of glowing spheres and lights seen near the Soviet border, a Costa Rica sighting near Puntarenas, and Afghan news items from 1959 on bright objects over Kandahar, Mazar-i-Sharif and Kabul. Other reports describe objects over Kuldja in Sinkiang, China. A 1969 OSI report from Nakhon Phanom, Thailand concludes that a pilot's ground sighting was probably a religious procession carrying ceremonial drums.

# UFO sightings form global grid

He has written a book using his calculations to support a startling theory that "aucers" are establishing an intricate grid system.

Captain Cathle told The Sunday Times he had no interest in speculation about title green men" or the sible origin of "saucers." "All I'm interested in is a mathematical proof of y grid theory," he said.

"We have had his calculations checked by a mathematician at Victoria University — the wordlet is that figures DO add up," the presentative said.

His complicated maths have been proved correct, a representative of the book's publishers said this week.

the point to a continental airline officer. Captain Bruce Cathle, of Auckland.

He said he realised his theory could be held in dispute by scapegoats because he had begun his calculations after sighting an unidentifiable object himself.

"I now over a cigar-shaped stationary object above Kaipara Harbour, near Dargaville, about three years ago," he said.

"I was able to fix its position accurately, and that prumpled me to collect other sightings which had been verified by more than one source, and which enabled the position of the objects to be fixed.

## suspicion

## Pattern

"From all these I began to get some suspicion, that a pattern was developing.

"I found that verified sightings in a number of particular cases four years

age, for instance, indicated that they had all been sightings of the same object.

"Working on that assumption I fixed its line of travel and extended the line north.

"I found it exactly intersected the point where I had made my Kalpana Harbour observation a year later.

"Extending the line south gave an intersection over the D'Urville Island area — this time crossing the line of travel of an object which had been seen over the Wairarapa.

"Significantly, I found that other verified reports made at the same time as the Warrarapa sightings had placed an object exploding in midair over the same D'Urville Island area."

Captain Cathie said these intersections gave him the basis of his theory — by matching up other verified sightings he found that a grid pattern of precise measurement emerged.

## at joins

"I'm led toward this idea because many of the world's notable geographic features lie on the intersections of the grids." he said.

"It could be that they are being rebuilt.

Captain Cathie believes the grids may have existed once before on the world's surface.

## Figures accurate

"This got me pretty excited, because it meant that anyone using the grid coordinates would get mathematically accurate faces on any predetermined position."

identical grid, interlocking with the grid in the same way that aircraft instrument-loading systems operate.

The 45,000-ton superliner 'Canberra' will leave Auckland on two fabulous cruises of the Pacific this summer. The first leaving October 13th, will call at Sydney, Tokyo, Kobe, Nagasaki, Hong Kong and back to Sydney and Auckland. It will take 37 days and prices range from $484 (£242).

The second, a 50-day tour leaves Auckland February 15th and calls at Tonga, Honokulu, Vancouver, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Honokulu, Yokohama, Tokyo, Kobe, Nagsuoki, Hong Kong, Sydney and Auckland. Prices range from $644 (2332).

## Beacons

The geographic features included the Arizona Crater, the Chubb Crater in Quebec and the Wolf Creek Crater in Western Australia.

A representative of A. H. and A. W. Reed, the company publishes. Cathle's book, said a Victoria University mathematician had thoroughly checked the statistics and calculations.

The mathematician had reported that Captain Cathle's figures were completely accurate.

ADDRESS ...

- CAPTAIN BRUCE CATHIE . . . "not interested in little green men, only mathematical proof."

"But Captain Cathle is just as likely to be right as anyone else."

The representative said British publishing rights for the book had been arranged. However, it would not be available in New Zealand before March next year.

Using these measurements he drew up a grid covering New Zealand.

--thinks the "saucers" could be placing a type of beacon on the intersections, giving the grids physical proportions.

DOMINION SUNDAY TIMES, JULY 16, 1967.

NAME

Then, he says, he went back through records and gathered verified "saucer" reports dealing only with stationary, fixed-position objects.

"I believe the intersections are being covered systematically," he said.

He says these sightings placed the objects exactly over other intersections of the grid.

"He also reported that Captain Cathie's deductions could be unwarranted," the representative said.

"At the moment, even though the world pattern seems to have begun in 1946, sightings relevant to the grids show that intersections over populated areas have been left largely clear.

"I think the 'saucers' could be leaving the buildup areas till last, perhaps to minimise the chances of observation."

Captain Cathie said he would not speculate about the purpose of the grids.

"We expect it will cause quite a stir," he said.

relate accurately to the mathematics of the earth's mass, gravity acceleration and the speed of light."

"But if it gives a clue to anyone else with better knowledge than mine, the mathematics of the grids

## Chance

"In turn, this gave me the pattern of a second.

Captain Cathie said he applied his New Zealand calculations to a grid covering the world and once again found verified sightings placed "saucers" over intersections.

"Many sightings since then - including several over the Tautaga area in the last six months - have conformed to the grid pattern," he said.

## discovery

"Several verified sightings did not match up with the grid pattern, and I discovered that this distance between these exactly equaled with my original figures.

"Then I stumbled on a chance mathematical discovery," he said.
