Unidentified Flying Objects Reports

Defense Intelligence Agency · 140 pages · text by OCR

This Defense Intelligence Agency release gathers Army and Air Force intelligence reports on unidentified flying objects from several countries. It contains translated Finnish Border Guard reports of glowing spheres and lights seen near the Soviet border, a Costa Rica sighting near Puntarenas, and Afghan news items from 1959 on bright objects over Kandahar, Mazar-i-Sharif and Kabul. Other reports describe objects over Kuldja in Sinkiang, China. A 1969 OSI report from Nakhon Phanom, Thailand concludes that a pilot's ground sighting was probably a religious procession carrying ceremonial drums.

but was not certain until three weeks ago when he was accosted by three Americans in the Grand Hotel in Invercargill (South Island). He said these persons asked him to accompany them which he refused to do. He could (or would) not identify them other than to say he believed they were from a US Navy vessel in the area.

(NOTE: Only US vessel known to be south of Auckland is the USNS Eltanin, assigned to the US Antartic program, and which was in Antartic waters at the time. Capt Cathie said that he had been cleared by the NZ Government to pursue his research and that he had a letter to this effect signed by the Prime Minister. He stated that the Member of Parliament from his area Dr. Findley, had interceded for him and obtained government approval for his work. He then asked the DATT to "call your agents off. I have official approval to continue my work. I don't want them 'tailing' me."

COMMENT: The DATT made no reply to the request. This man is obsessed with his theory and no amount of argument can convince him that he has not stumbled on a highly complicated system which he says leads directly to the existence of UFO's.
