Dear Dr. Rettie:
An interesting story concerning a UFO was related to me recently by a technician at our Forest Products Laboratory in Ottawa. You may have received other information about this sighting but I believe you may be interested in this version.
Our technician has obtained this information directly from the person who had made the sighting. Saturday evening, June 3, 1967, our technician was with friends in a cottage beside Lake Ripissing after a day of fishing on the lake. A local resident, Mr. Arcand, had the job of checking the buoy lights at rocky outcrops or islands in the water. We entered the cottage at about 11:45 PM in an agitated state and described seeing an object or lights on the water between two islands while he was making his rounds in a boat. This sighting apparently took place near Oak Island.
We noticed two greenish lights which appeared to be about seven feet apart and a white light between and a little to the back of the other two lights. We approached the lights believing that people in a boat might be in trouble and got to within about 100 feet. At this point the lights or object suddenly rose from the water with a "whoosh" and vanished into the night sky. At this time he was aware of a peculiar odour quite unlike that of gasoline or
