It translates Long Ruyi's article "First UFO Incident for Our Country" from the Chinese journal Hangtian (No. 4, 1982). The article describes a huge spiral-shaped UFO that some 10,000,000 people across southwest and northwest China saw on 24 July 1981. It weighs meteor, aircraft and flying saucer explanations, rejects the meteor theory, and leans toward a spy craft while calling the proof lacking.
