March 17, 1892. Chestnut Hill Cemetery, Exeter, Rhode Island. A small party of men opened the graves of the Brown family. Consumption had already taken the mother and the eldest daughter. Now it had taken Mercy, aged 19, and her brother Edwin was dying. The neighbours had a theory. One of the dead was feeding on the living.
